An Introduction To Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is *the* essential Anime. Set in the year 2015, it is a world fighting for survival. Fifteen years ago a cataclysmic explosion in antarctica wiped out a third of the human race, and knocked the earth slightly off orbit, inducing a state of perpetual autumn. Supposedly, this was due to a meteor strike. This event is refered to as the Second Impact.

Now, the earth is under assault- giant beings known only as Angels are attacking, armed with a force known as the AT Field, they are impervious to all technologies but one- the Evangelion, technology developed in the wake of Second Impact. The Evangelions, piloted by children aged only 14, are the only weapons capable of piercing an AT field, because they are the only weapons humanity has that use AT fields themselves.

What are the Angels? What are the Evangelions? And why can only 14 year old children, born in the wake of Second Impact, pilot them?

Created by a man called Anno Hidaeki, Neon Genesis Evangelion is an anime unlike any other, exploring Freudian Psychology, Nietzche, all kinds of mythology and ultimately asking what it is to be human. Combined with an intense storyline and amazing artwork, Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best anime I have ever had the pleasure of viewing ^_^
